High Snobiety

This was originally on my blog but it has relevance here ya dig.

Rewind your mind a few months back, the on going "decline" of Bape was still the buzzwords on the forums, the streets, in the stores and virtually on the street wear tip.
"Them colourful shits is dead", "All over prints are whack", "I g0T m3 SoMe BavInG ApeZ"....
Just when you thought the unthinkable was unfathomable....someone over at Nigo's headquarters decided Spongebob was cool in this ever bridging gap between superior fashion and street wear...so "A Bathing Spongebob" if you will was created.

The company of the image was hit with more slander "is spongebob cool?" etc etc, and with the ever increase of fapes and mediocre, talentless rappers wearing the brand, there was indeed no end in sight for the Bape slew, I would be correct in saying that the Bape store in the UK has taken a knock in sales, wouldn't I?

But why was this lynching of this ape taking place, no pun intended.

To me I would be correct in saying the recent backlash would be to do with the spongebob saga and for peoples dislike for the "cartoonish bullshit" per se....

Fast Forward to March....Supreme ( a company who haven't released heat for ages except for when it comes to a cut & sewn jackets, flannels & crews kinda like Bape) think up this ingenious plan. Let's put Kermit the frog in a size 0 Supreme Box Logo tee and get a famous photographer (Terry Richardson) to take a picture of him, then lets put this picture on a shirt.

Basically they took another childhood icon (yes spongebob isn't an icon of our era but same thing) and put it on their product and everyone turns a blind eye. Why?

Sure Supreme has staples in the industry they helped make it what it is today and their involvement and history within defining the skating industry is phenomenal, but didn't Bape revolutionise also?

Some will say "oh but Bape have all these whack rappers rocking their shit, camo camo, panda panda, all over all over, cartoon cartoon"....but others can say "Dipset x Supreme (yes I know there also was Dipset x Bape looking shirt circulating the net but that my kids was a "Fake" in the terms of Bape had absolutely no involvement the font and the star was bitten), Supreme Box Logo, same shits just different variations, supreme x sneeze gucci colourway belt, Raekwon & Elmo & Supreme side script"

Both brands have been hit and miss, It just seems that since Bape is the more "mainstream" of the two they cop all the heat, come on you Supreme fans don't really think that Kermit shit is dope do you...stop being fan boys....
being biased is a bitch (alliteration)

As predicted, the collaboration between Supreme and Kermit the Frog would draw a large crowd. On March 6th, people in New York lined up at the Supreme store in Soho to purchase the Supreme x Kermit skate decks or tees. The pictures speak for themselves.

ain't that a bitch? I know this like my third comment, but I think I love this blog.
